The Music Grind: Give us some background info as to who you are.

The Sultan: I am a Boston based producer/video director. I have produced for artist such as Joe Budden, MC Lyte, Keith Murray, DJ Kay Slay and scored music for shows on MTV, VH1, BET to name a few.

The Music Grind: What is the significance of your name?

The Sultan: Sultan is my birth name, which means the ruler. The name is so unique, so I went with it for my music and directing brands.

The Music Grind: What is your USP? (Unique Selling Proposition) and what sets you apart from other video directors/producers?

The Sultan: I bring the all in one package. Most artists I come in contact with say the biggest thing they have problems with is having to go to several different sources to build their brand. Working with me you are getting a music producer, video director and photographer. This saves the artist time and resources.

The Music Grind: What is the equipment that you use?

The Sultan: For music Soundforge, acid 4.0 midi controller and mac book pro. For videography, Nikon d7000, d7100, final cut pro x for edits.

The Music Grind: What projects are you currently working on?

The Sultan: Right now I am working on a youtube comedy/drama series and music documentaries titles TBA release late 2016. Outside of that I am always helping artist and entrepreneurs build their brand so you can check out the latest visuals at

The Music Grind: What is the philosophy by which you live by?

The Sultan: My philosophy is “Work hard then work harder. Work ethic beats talent.”

The Music Grind: Who have inspired you?

The Sultan: My family inspires me.

The Music Grind: What is your 5 year plan?

The Sultan: My plan is to continue to build the videography and music brands while opening production houses in major cities that build brands from the ground up offering all in one branding services.

The Music Grind: What is your opinion of the current state of the music industry and If you can change one thing about the music industry what would it be and why?

The Sultan: Production is up quality and lyrics are down. One thing I would change is eliminate sample clearance.
The Music Grind: What is your favorite movie and favorite book?

The Sultan: My favorite movie is The Matrix. My favorite book changes weekly but right now it is”The Richest Man In Babylon.”
